About Us

Karen Sanders is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, where she studied design, color, painting, and art history. She has worked as a textile designer, and taught design and color theory at colleges. Her paintings have been exhibited in museums and galleries. Her passion for interior design comes through in her beautiful rugs, inspired largely by nature, architecture, art, fashion and textiles.

We work with interior designers and architects, as well as working with individuals who are navigating their own design projects. We are based in Asheville, NC. We have installations services in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Florida. We can also deliver our rugs globally Karen offers her collections in transitional, modern, and traditional designs. Each rug is made-to-order and can be produced in a wide selection of knot counts, fibers, pile heights, colors and sizes. This allows for a range of cost that will fit nearly all budgets.

Our rugs are hand knotted in Nepal, made of the highest quality wool, silk, nettle, mohair or hemp and tencel. They are dyed and woven to the exact standards of the traditional rug-making techniques of the region. Karen Sanders Design works with weavers in Nepal that are members of the GoodWeave Association, a global, non-profit organization working to end child labor.
